Kapa Haka

Kapa Haka at Weber School

Each Friday we are incredibly fortunate to have Whaea Miffy Pickering lead our Kapa Haka roupu. In our third year, we have gone from strength to strength and have a goal of entering the competitive section of the Tamaki Nui a Rua Kapa Haka festival.

We will use this page to share resources for practicing at home.

Ko Te Tiriti

A new song we are learning. This is early days but beat and words here to practise. Is going to be amazing!

Come back Whaea Miffy!

Jaedyn Randell - How Far I'll Go (Tukuna Au)

Tukuna Au [How Far I’ll Go]Kua noho, i te tapa o te tai nei
Mai anō ki te tai nei
Ngākaurua ana e
Aue, ahakoa rā te kāinga
Ka hoki mai ki te moana
Ahakoa te aha

Huri ke atu, taka kē ana
Ia te ara, hoki kē rawa
Ki te tānga-o-taku-manawa rā
E hao nei e

Tiro kau atu ki tahatū-o-te-rangi
Tukuna ahau, kia rapa ahau
I runga i te hau-kahaki ki tawhiti
Ka taea ahau
Tukuna ahau, kei huri te tai, ka mau

He tau te iwi nei ki te kāinga
Koa ana taku kāinga
Ā-muri, ā-mua
Ia tangata o te kāinga
Ko whai tūranga māna
‘Nā whai taku tūranga

Aratakina, hikitia rā
Ki te whaia pea ka rarata
Hoi i roto nei, hia kē ana
Aue taukuri!

Pīataata rawa te kārohirohi
Tukuna ahau, kia rapa ahau
Ki te tai e kārangaranga mai ki ahau e
Tukuna ahau, ki tawhiti rā
Kia pae tata

Tiro kau atu ki tahatū-o-te-rangi
Tukuna ahau, kia rapa ahau
I runga i te hau-kahaki ki tawhiti
Ka taea ahau
Tukuna au!

Nō tawhiti, nō tata
Nō te whenua o te Atua tātou
Ahakoa nō hea mai koe
Ka whawhai tonu mātou mōu
Ko au tō maunga, tū tonu
Ko te moana pari mai koe
Ko koe te awa i taku remu, ko tāua anō tāua
Nō te one i Kurawaka, hei tiaki i te whenua nei
Aotearoa, he iwi kaha tātou
He mana tuku iho mai anō
Whenua haumako
Wairua ora
Whāia tō ara
Ki te mutunga
Nō tawhiti, nō tata
Nō te whenua o te Atua tātou
Ahakoa nō hea mai koe
Ka whawhai tonu mātou mōu
He kōrero tō te whenua, heke mai ki a tātou
He toa au mōna e oke nei e
E kore au e hinga
He uri nō te roimata
Te toto o ngā tūpuna
E kore au e wehi ē
Kia kaha tātou ki tāu i pai ai
Whakatinana, kaua e ngutu noa
Whenua haumako, wairua ora
Whāia tō ara ki te mutunga
Nō tawhiti, nō tata
Nō te whenua o te Atua tātou
Ahakoa nō hea mai koe

We gonna be alright
We gonna be alright
Ka puta ka ora
We gonna be alright

It might be a minute till I see your face
And you know I miss it but we’ll be okay
If we stay.
Taku aroha i kai momotu
But I know we’ll do it I know we’ll get through
If we stay.

I miss my sisters. I miss my brothers.
But we’re in it together. Staying apart for each other.

Da-da-da
Stay with me

Aotearoa whakakotahi rā
Mō ngā mokopuna
Mō ngā whakareanga
Aotearoa – whītiki, maranga
Kia ora tāua tahi, kia ora – ora

With a little bit of passion
A bit of dedication
We gonna be alright
We gonna be alright

Stay
Stay with me
This isn’t forever
We’re in this together

Why don’t you, stay
Stay with me
He tāngamanawa
Kia mau ki a tāua, tāua

Bubbled up and it kind of sucks
We can’t cuddle up
FaceTiming just checking on if you warm enough
But we gotta do this for
The greater good
Hopefully when it all over
Touch wood

Wanna be right there with you
we could breathe the same air that’s true
till then my love is on lock up for you it’s getting stronger
the distance makes the heart grow fonder

I miss my brothers. I miss my sisters
We’re in this together. Staying apart from each other.
Ko tō manawa, ko tōku manawa
Ka puta ka ora, ka puta ka ora

Stay
Stay with me
This isn’t forever
We’re in this together
Why don’t you, stay
Noho tonu mai, noho tonu mai
Forever, together

You know we got to,
Stay together, this ain’t forever no no
Everythings going to be alright,
You and me just gotta hold tight
We gonna be alright
We gonna be alright
Ka puta ka ora
Ka puta ka ora
